BELLAIRE SKATING ON ICE
This ice rink is sponsored by Bellaire Rotary and Bellaire Youth Initiative.  Announcing our 4th year of ice skating!  We finally have old man winter working in our favor!  It take below zero temperatures and no snow to make an ice rink work.  Consider that an ice rink needs many layers of ice, so when you see us out there late at night and early mornings with the water being sprayed on the ice, consider honking a horn or support.  That brings a smile to our faces!
Our goal is to give our community a place to gather even during the cold winter months.  We urge parents and children to put down your electronic devises and enjoy the gifts we have here in Bellaire.  The beauty of this season takes my breath away, between the sparkle of diamonds in the fresh fallen snow, to the calmness and crispness in the air.  This is the time of year that the outdoors rests and we can enjoy all its beauty as a silhouette of seasons past  We hope you get inspired to enjoy the simple things in life.  Whether it is ice skating, broom ball on ice or playing hockey.  Bring your friends and family to have fun on the ice!

Our changes this year are amazing, as we have added a storage shed to house all of the equipment that we use daily in maintaining the ice rink.  Which Gary Lockwood attests to is much better on his back not having to muscle snow blowers in and out of the back of his truck!
Our warming tent is up and ready to store some of the walkers that help to assist those that are a little wobbly when first starting to skate!
And you will notice that the lighting is so much brighter thanks to the Village of Bellaire's DPW department, as they installed direct lighting so we are definitely bright for night time skating.
We have increased the size of our youth ice rink as we had so many children out there last year, it was necessary to handle the community needs.  We want to recognize our community as a whole for making all of this possible.  The outpour of help that we received was phenomenal this year with our ice rink project.
An open house for the "Bellaire Skating on Ice" was held at the Richardi Park from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019.  Complete with "hot cocoa and cookies".
We had an "Ice Skate Swap" as we did last year also on Saturday, January 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center at 308 E. Cayuga St. in Bellaire.  For further information, please call Gary Lockwood at 231-377-2002  or Grandma Dee at 231-377-7077.
